Aftercare for each procedure

Please take a look at the appropriate section for the appropriate aftercare for your skin micropigmentation procedure.

Aftercare instructions for skin micropigmentation by procedure

Eyebrows

THE DAY OF TREATMENT:

Absorb Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents excessive scabbing and will help prevent loss of your micropigmentation.

WEEK ONE:

WASH:

Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don't worry...THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!) Gently wash your procedure area each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the affected area. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

MOISTURIZE:

Apply a pencil eraser or smaller amount of nourishing ointment, such as tattoo aftercare, Aquaphor or vitamin e oil, with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo or skin micropigmentation.

Important Reminders

  • Use a fresh pillowcase
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour
  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
  • Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days
  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.

Lip Blushing

Lip Blush post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity  of your new lips. Please read the following aftercare instructions  carefully:

Day 1

Immediately following the procedure, lips will feel dry, chapped,  tight and tender to the touch. They may appear swollen and bright in color.

For 4 hours after treatment, apply light pressure on lips with a  clean paper towel, to remove any lymph. After 4 hours, start applying  ointment (Aquaphor) as needed to keep lips constantly moist. No kissing, rubbing or friction on treatment area.

Day 1-3

Apply ointment on lips several times a day. Keep lips moist at all  times. Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw. After every meal gently rinse and clean lips with water and pat  dry, then re-apply ointment.

DAY 4-7

Between these days, lips will begin and end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 30%-50%.
Do not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue keeping your lips moist!

WEEK 2

Lips are done peeling, color is light. You may return to normal  routines. Lips will continue to heal, up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface, it is important to continue keeping lips moist to  get the best color at the end of the healing phase.

WEEK 6-8

Your lips are healed and you're feeling unstoppable!!! Just add some  lip gloss and go! In most cases it requires two treatments to complete  the lip transformation.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post treatment of your micropigmentation:

  • Increased sweating
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area
  • Touching of the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the treatment area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin,  please contact us immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Permanent Eyeliner

  • Dry Healing

Dry healing was the primary aftercare  method before wet healing became popular. This method works well for those with oily skin. During the first few days, you’ll need to clean the treated area several times a day using a damp cotton pad or swab to blot away lymph and dust. Some artists recommend only removing excess  fluids to prevent excess moisture. The goal is to keep the area dry for  the remainder of the healing period, allowing any scabs to fall off  naturally. This method is convenient and requires little effort, but  scabbing and uneven color are possible outcomes.

  • Wet Healing

Wet healing is now widely recommended  by makeup artists. You’ll need to clean the treated area several times a  day using a gentle cleanser or water, then apply a healing gel  (A & E Ointment or Aquaphor). Your artist will advise you on how  often to clean the area and how much gel to apply. Unlike dry healing,  this method prevents scabbing and produces an even color of your skin micropigmentation. However, it  requires more effort and supplies, and you may need to keep your aftercare supplies with you throughout the day.

  • Combination Healing

Combination healing combines aspects of wet and dry healing. During the first few days, the area is kept dry except when being cleaned. After that, the area is cleaned and healing gel is applied as directed by the client for about a week.

Scalp Micropigmentation

Short-Term Care

Immediately after treatment,  your scalp will need time to heal. Just like any other medical  procedure, you need to take it easy by not interfering with your body’s  recovery process. The scalp will form tiny scabs where the needle  pierced the skin. Under no circumstances should you touch, pick at, or  disturb your scalp while your body mends these small wounds.

  • You must wait three days before washing or touching the scalp after a treatment.
  • Prevent your body from sweating by resting during this time. Do not  exercise, sit in the sun, or do any other activity that may cause you to  sweat.
  • By the fourth day, you can use water to rinse your scalp. Do not use any shampoo or other soaps to clean the area.
  • If you are planning on having another treatment, begin moisturizing the scalp at this time.
  • After seven days, you can clean the treated area. We recommend washing the scalp with a gentle facial cleanser.
  • During the first 30 days, it is critical that you avoid exposure to  UV rays, intense sweating, or any damage to the scalp while your  micropigmentation sets.

Long-Term Care

It’s understandable to be concerned about your scalp  micropigmentation aftercare, but you should try your best to enjoy the  results, instead of constantly fretting about potential outcomes. For  Long-Term Care, keep the following in mind:

  • Continue to avoid direct exposure to intense sunlight,  and protect yourself from UV rays. This will help the treatment from  “fading” and will give you better results for a longer period of time.
  • Do not use products that contain alcohol as a quick drying agent.  Specifically, look out for SD alcohol, denatured alcohol, or isopropyl  alcohol high on the list of ingredients.
  • Always moisturize your scalp at least once every day.
  • Remove dead skin cells by using an exfoliating cleanser to keep your scalp looking great.

Areola Reconstruction

There will be some aftercare responsibilities for you to do at home following your tattoo. It is important to understand what to expect immediately after your service as well as in the days to come.

Immediately after:

It is not uncommon for the area to have some bleeding the first day

Slight swelling and redness following the service is normal. The skin may feel tight and sensitive; these symptoms will ease within 1-7 days depending on how sensitive your skin is and how much post-surgical feeling has been preserved. Tylenol or

Ibuprofen may be in order.

For the first 5 days following your micropigmentation service:

When showering, keep your back to the shower spray. Do not let hot water spray directly onto your tattooed breasts. Gently wash your breasts with mild soap (baby shampoo or Cetaphyl). DO NOT use anything astringent. Continue to rinse until all surface blood, ointment and soap have been removed.

Blot dry after shower using paper towel or allow to air dry for 15-30 minutes until tattoo is completely dry. Your tattoo

should feel taut or tight when it is thoroughly dry.

Apply ointment in a thin, light coat (not more than the size of a pinhead), by gently rubbing it onto the areola with a clean cotton swab. Tattoo should feel moist but not heavily coated. Use the ointment provided. If the ointment burns or hurts in any

way, stop using it and contact me immediately.

During the daytime, re-bandage with non-stick pads whenever you have to wear clothing over your tattoo, (such as a bra).

Avoid tight fitting clothing if possible.

During the evening, apply a thin layer of ointment (not more than the size of a pin head), to the tattoo and cover with plastic wrap. Try to sleep on your back.

*** All tattoos weep bodily fluids. You will see these fluids each morning on the plastic wrap. It is important to blot these fluids off with a damp (with purified water), white paper towel periodically throughout the day for 5 days.

*** Be careful not to use pressure

Very important: While your tattoo is covered, it is healing at a much slower rate, so whenever possible, expose the tattoo to the air or cover with a loose fitting, soft, white cotton T-shirt.

After day 5: Let “the girls” dry out to continue healing on their own. No more ointments. Still, gently blot them with a damp paper towel periodically if you notice they still appear to be weeping.

Tattoo Removal

  1. Once the procedure is completed it is best to let the wound dry heal.
  2. However,  if you work at high-risk facilities such as gyms, schools, and  hospitals please make sure to cover the wound to avoid any infections.
  3. It is imperative that you do NOT pull off the scab. Please let it fall off  naturally otherwise it might not heal properly, or be done with the  osmosis process of lifting the ink.
  4. Oftentimes  the wound might present some lymph fluid drainage. In that case, just  blot the area with a clean paper towel but make sure not to rub!
  5. Also, make sure not to use any cosmetic products or makeup on the wound as it will delay healing and might even infect the area.
  6. Lastly, make sure not to wet the wound in the shower. The area must be left dry for best results.
  7. After the scab falls off, you may use vitamin E oil (just 2 or 3 drops) to re-hydrate the skin.
